Kevin Barry+ (all the way to the right) was formerly at St. Michael’s and served as a Canon Missioner. He’s pictured here as he travelled with ++Adler to Africa.
Today, I learned of a podcast featuring Barry+ and Matthew Cuthbertson, another one formerly at St. Michael’s and an inquirer into Orthdoxy.
(I’ve only listened to a few minutes of this as I’m posting this and it irked me that the Orthodox priest hosting this podcast referred to Canon Barry as “Mr. Barry.”)

Jacob Lee here– from the podcast. Thank you for posting the link to this podcast. I wanted to assuage your concerns and let you know that Fr. Andrew meant no disrespect and Kevin has asked not to be given any special titles now that he is an inquirer at St. John the Theologian.

I would have been irked as well. I seriously considered Orthodoxy (and have many friends, whom I dearly love, who have gone in that direction). But in my experience, attitudes like those expressed here have far more to do with East vs. West bitterness (the enormous majority of which is coming from the East) than it has to do with the theology of ordination, etc.
For the record, many of my university and pastoral colleagues still refer to me as Fr. David — a certainly unnecessary, but greatly appreciated courtesy.

This is Matt Cuthbertson. I thought I would post a comment to let people know that Jacob Lee, not Fr. Andrew, was addressing Kevin, as “Mr. Barry.” Jacob did this at Kevin’s request. Please do not be offended or read into this other than what Kevin says about himself in the podcast.

Follow up podcast now that 30 ex-CEC’rs have been received into the Orthodox Church. At least 6 more from St. Michael’s CEC are now catechumens at St. John the Theologian (theologian.org).
